The A. Philip Randolph Institute (APRI) has announced that its 55th Annual Education Conference will take place from July 22 to July 26, 2026, at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside.
Founded in 1965 by A. Philip Randolph and Bayard Rustin, APRI is an organization focused on advancing racial equality and economic justice for Black trade unionists and all working Americans. The institute traces its roots to the work of A. Philip Randolph, who established the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters in 1925. This group achieved a significant milestone in labor history by securing union recognition for Pullman porters in 1935 after years of advocating against low wages and racial discrimination. In 1978, the Brotherhood merged into what is now known as the Transportation Communications Union (TCU/IAM), continuing Randolph’s legacy within organized labor.
The annual conference brings together labor leaders, activists, and members from across the United States to address current challenges facing workers. Attendees will participate in training programs and educational workshops aimed at developing leadership skills and promoting racial and economic justice within their communities and workplaces.
According to APRI, “Participants will take part in dynamic training programs and educational workshops designed to strengthen leadership skills, advance racial and economic justice, and build power in our communities and workplaces.”
Conference participants will also have opportunities to network with other union members, hear from expert speakers, and learn strategies they can apply within their own organizations. As stated by APRI: “Attendees will also have opportunities to connect with fellow union members and allies, engage with expert speakers, and gain practical strategies to take home and put into action.”
Further details about conference registration are expected to be released soon. Interested individuals can review this year’s tentative agenda by downloading a PDF provided by APRI.
