Library workers represented by IAM Local 4538 at the Baltimore County Public Library have succeeded in regaining their part-time jobs. The outcome follows a collective effort by union members who utilized their contract to advocate for job restoration.
According to the group, “It’s protection. It’s a voice. It’s what gave them the power to fight and successfully get their jobs back.”
Union members emphasized that organizing and mutual support were key factors in achieving this result. They stated, “By organizing, speaking up, and backing each other, they turned their contract into real power. This victory is a reminder to working people everywhere: when workers stand together, they can defend their livelihoods, protect their futures, and win the dignity and respect they deserve.”
The successful effort highlights the role of union contracts in providing workplace protections and enabling employees to collectively address employment concerns.
