The U.S. Census Bureau will conduct a prerelease webinar on September 4, 2025, to discuss the upcoming release of the 2024 American Community Survey (ACS) 1-year estimates. The ACS provides data on topics such as language spoken at home, education, commuting, employment, mortgage status and rent, income, poverty, and health insurance coverage. It is recognized as the only source for local estimates on most of these subjects.

The one-year statistics are scheduled for public release on September 11, 2025. However, embargo subscribers will have early access starting September 9 at 10 a.m. ET until September 11 at 12:01 a.m. ET. These statistics will cover all states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, congressional districts, metropolitan statistical areas, and other regions with populations of at least 65,000.

Wire and distribution services are not permitted to distribute embargoed news stories or data files before the official public release date and time. More details about this policy can be found in the Census Bureau’s embargo policy.

The prerelease webinar aims to help users understand how to access ACS data and resources and provide guidance on comparing geographies and statistics over time. Caleb Hopler from the American Community Survey Office and Jewel Jordan from the Public Information Office will lead the session.

“The webinar will explain how to access data and resources from the ACS, and provide tips for comparing geographies and statistics over time.”

“The ACS provides a wide range of statistics about the nation’s people and housing, such as language spoken at home, education, commuting, employment, mortgage status and rent, income, poverty, and health insurance coverage. It is the only source of local estimates for most of the 40-plus topics it covers.”

“The one-year statistics will be available to embargo subscribers beginning Sept. 9 at 10 a.m. ET for all states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, all congressional districts and metropolitan statistical areas, and other geographic areas with populations of 65,000 or more.”

“Embargo subscribers will have access to these statistics from Tuesday, Sept. 9 at 10 a.m. ET to Thursday, Sept. 11 at 12:01 a.m. ET. Wire and distribution services are prohibited from distributing embargoed news stories and data files before the public release date and time. For more information, refer to the Census Bureau’s embargo policy. All datasets will be available to the public by 10 a.m. ET on Sept. 11.”
