The U.S. Census Bureau has released updated population estimates and projections extending to the year 2100 for 21 countries and areas as part of its International Database (IDB). The update includes refined demographic data for countries such as Australia, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Iran, the United States, and others.

According to the announcement, new information from censuses, surveys, and administrative records was used in the latest release. The IDB now features data for 13,671 subnational areas worldwide—similar to states or counties in the United States—and includes improved mapping tools.

The International Database provides demographic indicators like population size by age and sex up to 100 years old and above. It also covers key factors that influence population change: mortality rates, fertility rates, and net international migration. Over 220 countries and areas are represented in these estimates and projections.

The Census Bureau periodically updates this resource as new data become available. More details about these estimates can be accessed on the International Database Overview webpage at https://www.census.gov/data-tools/demo/idb/informationGateway.php.
