The U.S. Census Bureau has released updated Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (TIGER)/Line files for 2025. The new data are available in Shapefile, Geodatabase, and GeoPackage formats, providing users with the ability to create custom maps using various data sources.

Among the updates for 2025 are new Current Suffixed Blocks Geodatabases and GeoPackages. These include both 2020 and current block information, with suffixes indicating blocks that have been split since 2020. Users can link these datasets to the Census Bureau’s current address count listing files.

The geospatial data products contain legal, administrative, and statistical boundaries as well as features such as roads and hydrography. These geographic boundary data can be connected to upcoming demographic information from the 2025 census on data.census.gov, which will allow users to display census tabular data visually on a map.

Although TIGER/Line files do not provide demographic statistics themselves, they include geographic entity codes (GEOIDs) that make it possible to link them with demographic data from the Census Bureau. Guidance on selecting appropriate products is available through the TIGER Data Products Guide page.

According to the Census Bureau: “No news release associated with this product. Tip sheet only.”
