Commissioner Anastasios Kamoutsas and the Florida Department of Education have highlighted the department’s achievements for 2025. This year marked Kamoutsas’s first as Commissioner, with a renewed commitment to providing high-quality educational opportunities for all students in Florida.

“All students deserve the best education possible. Under the leadership of Governor Ron DeSantis, Florida remains the most student-centered state in the nation,” said Commissioner of Education Anastasios Kamoutsas. “I am proud of the many accomplishments made this year and look forward to continuing this important work in 2026.”

The Florida Department of Education is responsible for overseeing public education across the state, including approximately 2.8 million students enrolled in 4,471 public schools and 28 colleges at 175 locations. The agency works within Florida’s government structure and provides programs that support education, workforce training, apprenticeships, and services for individuals with disabilities to promote economic self-sufficiency. Its mission is to enhance student proficiency through an integrated system that offers valuable learning and research opportunities for students, parents, and communities. The department operates statewide to serve public schools and colleges throughout Florida.
