DC Comics has entered into a partnership with Guide Dogs of America | Tender Loving Canines (GDA | TLC), the official charity of the IAM Union, to promote the role of service dogs in supporting individuals with disabilities. The collaboration will last for a year and aims to highlight how trained service dogs can improve lives.

The initiative follows a previous joint effort at San Diego Comic-Con and introduces a new group of puppies sponsored by DC. These dogs are being named after well-known DC characters: Krypto, Clark, Lois, Kara, and Lobo. Each name reflects traits associated with these characters—loyalty, courage, determination, and kindness.

According to the organizations involved, these puppies will be trained to assist people who are blind or visually impaired, veterans living with PTSD or traumatic brain injuries, children with autism, and public institutions through facility dogs.

“In a rare and meaningful departure from tradition, GDA | TLC has allowed this special litter to be named after iconic DC characters. Say hello to the newest four-legged Super Heroes:

Krypto – Inspired by Superman’s loyal Superdog, where good dogs and great heroes meet

Clark – Mild-mannered, kind-hearted, and guided by strong morals

Lois – Smart, fearless, and always determined

Kara – Powerful, courageous, and learning to harness incredible abilities

Lobo – Bold, fearless, and unforgettable”

After initial training in puppy pre-kindergarten classes, the puppies will move on to work with volunteer raisers who will help them develop skills needed for their future roles as service animals.

Fans of both DC Comics and GDA | TLC will be able to follow the progress of these puppies throughout the year via events and social media updates. The public will also have an opportunity to meet the puppies during San Diego Comic-Con in July.
