Duke Energy Florida held its Neighborhood Energy Saver Program event in North Greenwood, St. Petersburg, where about 75 residents attended to learn about free home energy assessments and ways to reduce their electricity bills. The event was open to more than 1,400 eligible local customers and took place at the North Greenwood Recreation Center.
Melissa Seixas, president of Duke Energy Florida, said, “Programs like the Neighborhood Energy Saver are one of the many ways we partner with customers and the community to help reduce energy costs. We know our customers are feeling higher costs everywhere, which is why we’re glad to have this opportunity to connect with them and share practical ways to lower their energy bills, while enjoying a meal together.”
The program offers up to 20 no-cost energy-saving improvements for eligible residential customers. These include digital room thermometers, energy-saving showerheads or wands, a year’s supply of AC filters, water-saving faucet aerators for kitchens and bathrooms, energy-efficient lightbulbs, water heater wraps or pipe wrap, covers for window AC units, caulking, weatherstripping and door sweeps.
Both homeowners and renters in communities identified through federal and state guidelines as well as census data can participate in the program. Residents interested in learning more or checking eligibility can visit the company’s website or call 855.227.2918.
