Duke Energy and the Duke Energy Foundation have announced a $100,000 donation to the One SC Fund, an initiative activated by Governor Henry McMaster to support food banks throughout South Carolina. This contribution is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to address hunger in the state as colder weather and the holiday season approach.
In addition to this donation, Duke Energy will provide another $500,000 during November to at least 60 feeding programs across South Carolina. These funds aim to help organizations facing funding uncertainties while demand for their services increases.
Governor Henry McMaster commented on the donation: “Duke Energy’s contribution to the One SC Fund highlights the very best of South Carolina. At a time when many families are facing uncertainty, Team South Carolina is coming together to support our food banks and put food on the table. I’m grateful for their generosity and hope it will encourage others to join our effort to help families in need.”
Tim Pearson, president of Duke Energy in South Carolina, said: “These organizations are fighting the good fight every day in communities across our state, but they cannot do it alone. Duke Energy is happy to stand with the governor, and we encourage other corporate entities, organizations and citizens across the state to help support the fight against hunger.”
Since 2021, Duke Energy and its foundation have contributed more than $2.6 million toward supporting agencies that combat hunger in South Carolina.
The company’s annual campaign against hunger will begin next week. Now in its fifth year, this initiative will distribute over $500,000 leading up to Thanksgiving and conclude with additional grant announcements on Giving Tuesday. The campaign also involves employee volunteerism with partner organizations such as Harvest Hope Food Bank, Mill Village Farms, Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina, FoodShare South Carolina and AIM.
Duke Energy also encourages customers who may be struggling financially during this period to seek assistance with managing their energy bills through available programs at duke-energy.com/SeasonalSavings.
