Duke Energy has launched the “12 Days of Savings” campaign, offering a series of daily energy efficiency tips aimed at helping customers manage their electricity usage during the holiday season. The initiative begins on December 1 and runs through December 12, with each day featuring a specific action that customers can take to reduce energy consumption and potentially lower their bills.

“During the holidays, energy use naturally increases due to cooler temperatures and shorter days,” said Kendal Bowman, Duke Energy’s North Carolina president. “Our goal is to make it easy for customers to take small steps that improve energy efficiency and deliver real savings.”

The tips include replacing both outdoor and indoor incandescent lighting with LED bulbs, which are more efficient and longer-lasting. Other suggestions focus on home maintenance tasks such as changing air filters, adjusting thermostats, using sunlight for heating by managing window coverings, sealing air leaks in windows and doors, setting water heaters to recommended temperatures, insulating pipes, installing low-flow showerheads, checking refrigerator seals, adjusting ceiling fan direction for winter use, and turning off fans when not in use.

Duke Energy also offers a free Home Energy Assessment service. This program provides participants with complimentary efficiency products like weather stripping and caulking, as well as personalized advice on reducing household energy use. Customers may also find out if they qualify for rebates on certain upgrades.

Duke Energy serves 8.6 million electric utility customers across six states and operates one of the largest portfolios of power generation capacity in the United States. The company continues to invest in modernizing its electric grid and expanding cleaner sources of energy including renewables and storage solutions.
