Duke Energy Ohio & Kentucky, along with its employees, customers, and local partners, have contributed over $860,000 this year through the Share the Light Fund to support community agencies. The initiative aims to help families keep their homes warm and powered during the winter months.

The company collaborates with organizations such as the Salvation Army, United Way of Greater Cincinnati, and Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission to provide assistance to those in need. More than one-third of the funding came from the Duke Energy Foundation, which included an additional $100,000 invested earlier in the year for families affected by extreme heat.

Last year, Duke Energy and its Foundation provided more than $2.6 million in charitable contributions to nonprofits within its Ohio and Kentucky service areas. Employees also supported nonprofits with over $650,000 through volunteer work and financial donations.

Kim Vogelgesang, manager at Duke Energy Foundation, stated: “Behind every request for help is a story – a family, a friend, a community member working to get through a tough time. Through Share the Light Fund and our local partners, we’re able to support our neighbors in their moment of need.”

Customers seeking assistance can use the Payment Assistance Finder to locate local agencies. Those wishing to contribute can make recurring or one-time donations to the Share the Light Fund.

Duke Energy Ohio & Kentucky serve 910,000 electric customers across a 3,000-square-mile area and provide natural gas service to 560,000 customers in Ohio and Kentucky. Parent company Duke Energy serves 8.6 million electric customers across six states and operates 55,100 megawatts of energy capacity nationwide. Its natural gas utilities reach 1.7 million customers in four states.

Duke Energy continues efforts toward an energy transition by investing in grid upgrades and cleaner generation sources such as natural gas, nuclear power, renewables, and energy storage.
