Duke Energy announced on Apr. 7 that it will donate $1,000 to its Share the Light Fund agencies for every Tampa Bay Rays regular-season win throughout the 2026 baseball season.
The initiative aims to provide financial support to Florida customers facing difficulties paying their utility bills. The company said that during the previous season, $82,000 was donated through this program to help customers pay energy bills.
Melissa Seixas, Duke Energy Florida state president, said, “We are always looking for ways to support our customers, and partnerships with organizations like the Tampa Bay Rays give a great opportunity to reach more families in need. Each season we look forward to cheering on the Rays while giving back to the community we serve.”
The Share the Light Fund is supported by contributions from employees, retirees, customers and Duke Energy shareholders. Donations are matched annually dollar for dollar by Duke Energy Foundation up to $500,000. All donations received are distributed monthly by social service agencies across Duke Energy’s 35-county service area in Florida.
In total, nearly $30.5 million has been provided in energy bill assistance in Florida through various programs helping almost 31,000 customers. Customers can also access tools such as Usage Alerts and other bill management resources offered by Duke Energy.
Duke Energy Florida serves two million residential, commercial and industrial customers across a 13,000-square-mile area and owns 12,500 megawatts of energy capacity in Florida.
