Florida Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Mark Wilson spoke with the News Service of Florida about the recent removal of the state’s business rent tax. The discussion centered on how this change is expected to affect businesses across Florida.

Wilson addressed the significance of this development, stating, “The elimination of Florida’s business rent tax is a game changer for job creators throughout our state.” He emphasized that this move could help strengthen the state’s economy by making it more attractive for companies to expand or relocate to Florida.

The business rent tax had long been viewed as a unique burden on Florida businesses, as it was one of the few such taxes in the nation. By removing it, state leaders aim to provide financial relief and improve competitiveness for local enterprises.

This policy change follows years of advocacy from business groups, including the Florida Chamber of Commerce. Wilson commented further: “This has been a top priority for us because it will free up capital that can be reinvested into growing businesses and creating jobs.”

According to experts, eliminating this tax could have broad implications for commercial property leasing and overall economic growth in Florida.
