Time has had a significant impact on the Florida citrus industry over the past year, according to Steve Johnson, Chairman of the Florida Citrus Commission. Reflecting on the period since Hurricane Milton, Johnson noted differing perceptions among industry members about how quickly or slowly the year has passed. He emphasized that regardless of perspective, collaborative efforts in recent months have provided positive momentum for the sector as it enters a new season.

Johnson highlighted that the Florida Department of Citrus (FDOC) has kept pace with industry developments. He referenced not only a new partnership between Florida Orange Juice and the Tampa Bay Lightning but also other activities deemed important to maintaining progress within the industry.

The next meeting of the Florida Citrus Commission is scheduled for Wednesday, October 22 at 9:00 a.m., to be held at FDOC headquarters in Bartow.

Steve Johnson serves as Chairman of the Florida Citrus Commission and is also owner and general manager of Johnson Harvesting, Inc., located in Wauchula, Florida.
