Union members from the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) in Florida convened in Tallahassee for a five-day legislative conference. The event brought together both active members and retirees to meet with state legislators, focusing on labor rights, wage improvements, and the protection of pensions and Social Security.
Leaders at the conference highlighted their opposition to legislation that could weaken union influence. “Leaders and activists emphasize the importance of opposing anti-union legislation that threatens the collective bargaining power and financial stability of the working class.”
The IAM Florida State Council used this opportunity to engage directly with lawmakers. Their aim was to represent machinists from across Florida, including regions such as the Kennedy Space Center, South Florida, and the Panhandle. The council’s main objective was to shape policies that support union workers’ interests and prepare for upcoming political challenges during the 2026 midterm elections.
