The Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) has finished a nine-day hearing to review the rate request submitted by Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) and a proposed settlement agreement. The process included expert testimony, cross-examination, and an in-depth look at both FPL’s original proposal and the terms of the settlement.
The hearing was divided into two phases. This allowed intervenors to question witnesses about FPL’s initial petition as well as the proposed settlement.
The proposed settlement is supported by several organizations and companies, including The Florida Industrial Power Users Group, Florida Retail Federation, Florida Energy for Innovation Association, Walmart Inc., EVgo Services, Americans for Affordable Clean Energy, Circle K, RaceTrac, Wawa, Electrify America, Federal Executive Agencies, Armstrong World Industries, and the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy.
Following the hearing, all parties will be able to submit post-hearing briefs that serve as their closing arguments based on evidence presented during the proceedings.
A Special Commission Conference is scheduled for November 20, 2025. At this meeting, FPSC commissioners will discuss the proposed settlement agreement using all evidence from the hearing.
