Florida State Parks will host First Day Hikes on January 1, 2026, inviting the public to begin the new year with outdoor activities. These hikes are available at participating parks across the state and include both guided walks led by park rangers and self-guided options through a variety of natural settings such as beaches, forests, springs, and wetlands. Trails are available for different skill levels.

Participants in the event will receive a First Day Hikes sticker while supplies last. Chuck Hatcher, Director of Florida State Parks, said: “Florida’s state parks offer something for everyone, and First Day Hikes are a perfect introduction. You can meet fellow outdoor enthusiasts on guided hikes or find your own path on self-guided trails. Starting the year here is a simple way to connect with nature and create lasting memories.”

Trail maps can be obtained at ranger stations or online to help visitors plan their outings individually or in groups.

Florida has 175 state parks and over 3,000 miles of multi-use trails that provide opportunities for recreation throughout the year. Annual passes are available for individuals and families; these passes allow unlimited entry to state parks and offer discounts for veterans and foster families.
