For the tenth consecutive year, the Florida Theatre will host its annual holiday movie and food drive to support Feeding Northeast Florida. The event is scheduled for December 29, 2025, with a screening of “The Grinch” (2018) beginning at 2:00 p.m. inside the historic venue.

Admission to the event is free for both adults and children who bring a canned or nonperishable food item. Attendees are encouraged to bring one item per person, though additional donations are welcome.

“We started this years ago (2015) as a way to give back to the community as a non-profit ourselves. It is a great family event and an opportunity to teach kids about philanthropy,” said Numa Saisselin, President of the Florida Theatre.

Suggested donation items include canned vegetables such as corn or green beans, canned fruits like peaches or pears, peanut butter in plastic jars, canned meats including tuna or chicken, pop-top cans of ravioli and spaghetti, canned soup, and boxed foods like macaroni and cheese or instant potatoes.

All collected food will be distributed by Feeding Northeast Florida, which serves as the largest food bank in the region and operates within the Feeding America network.

“Support from the community is critical to our ability to serve neighbors in need. We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with the Florida Theatre again for this wonderful holiday tradition,” said Susan King, President and CEO of Feeding Northeast Florida.

Doors will open at 12:30 p.m., allowing guests time for arts and crafts activities as well as milk and cookies in the lobby before the film begins. The movie has a runtime of 85 minutes.

CSX is recognized as this year’s presenting sponsor.

Feeding Northeast Florida provides food assistance across eight counties—Baker, Bradford, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Nassau, Putnam, and St. Johns—and works with local partners to address hunger through various initiatives focused on advocacy and education.
