Jim Henson’s 1986 fantasy film “Labyrinth” will be shown in concert at the Florida Theatre on November 11, 2026, to mark its 40th anniversary. The movie features David Bowie as Jareth, the Goblin King, and Jennifer Connelly in one of her early roles as Sarah, a teenager who must navigate a mystical maze to rescue her brother Toby.
The film is known for its elaborate production design and practical effects created by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop. It also includes numerous puppets and creatures designed by Henson’s team.
A significant part of the film’s appeal comes from its soundtrack, which mixes Trevor Jones’ original score with songs written and performed by David Bowie. These include “Magic Dance,” “As The World Falls Down,” and “Underground,” which became the album’s most popular track.
According to the event announcement, “‘Labyrinth’ is a beloved Jim Henson fantasy film that can be seen as a coming-of-age story, exploring themes of growing up, self-discovery, and balancing childhood imagination with adult responsibility, disguised as a whimsical yet dark fairy tale.”
Tickets for the screening go on sale Friday, January 16, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. They are available at www.floridatheatre.com or through the Florida Theatre Box Office at (904) 355-2787. A VIP/Meet & Greet package is also offered for this event.
