Highlands County has installed three interactive digital kiosks in Sebring, Avon Park, and Lake Placid to improve the visitor experience and encourage tourism across city lines. The kiosks are located at Sebring’s Circle Park, in front of the Avon Park Chamber of Commerce at 28 Main Street, and at Journal Plaza in Lake Placid at 231 North Main Avenue.

The initiative is part of a collaborative effort by the Highlands County Tourist Development Council (TDC) and the three cities to present Highlands County as a unified destination. “By the TDC and the three cities working together and showcasing Highlands County as one cohesive destination, we’re making it easier for visitors to discover our area events, activities, restaurants, hotels, and attractions,” said Highlands County Tourism Director Casey Hartt. “These kiosks help strengthen tourism throughout all three cities by encouraging visitors to see and do more during their stay, which ultimately boosts economic activity countywide.”

The kiosks were introduced earlier this year during the TDC’s Destination Unity Breakfast. Over the past year, Visit Sebring collaborated with city officials to develop a platform that highlights each community’s offerings while promoting connections between them.

Each kiosk features touchscreen navigation for browsing local dining options, accommodations, outdoor activities, cultural sites, and upcoming events. While each unit focuses on its host city, users are encouraged to explore attractions throughout Highlands County.

“Local businesses and organizations are featured in categories such as Food & Drink, Things to Do, Outdoors, and Accommodations so visitors can easily discover them,” Hartt said. “Users can also filter by preferences, such as cuisine, lodging style, or city, giving them a seamless way to explore and enjoy all three communities during their vacation to Highlands County.”

TrueOmni manufactured the kiosks. They include features like an itinerary builder that allows visitors to select favorite spots and send personalized plans to their phones; an interactive event calendar covering festivals and community happenings; interactive maps for navigating between attractions; and a digital photo booth for sharing branded Visit Sebring photos.

Tourism-related businesses wishing to be listed on the kiosks are encouraged to review their information on VisitSebring.com or contact the TDC at info@visitsebring.com.

Visit Sebring is managed by the Highlands County Tourist Development Council (TDC), whose mission is destination promotion and responsible resource management aimed at long-term economic growth.
