IAM Air Transport Territory General Vice President Richie Johnsen and other leaders have visited IAM Union members at Alaska Airlines Cargo. During their visit, they met with mechanics from both Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines in Seattle and Hawaii.
Johnsen addressed a major issue for these workers: the upcoming representation election between the IAM Union and the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA). This election follows an ongoing merger between Hawaiian and Alaska Airlines. In response to questions from union members, Johnsen publicly challenged AMFA to a debate about aircraft maintenance technician representation. He stated his readiness to meet “at any time, any where” to discuss issues important to the workforce.
Video highlights of the event are available online.
