IAM District 19 President and Directing General Chairman Reece Murtagh, along with TCU/IAM Vice-President Nick Peluso, visited Capitol Hill to advocate for the passage of the No Tax on Overtime for All Workers Act (H.R. 5475). The legislation was introduced by Representatives Nicole Malliotakis (R-N.Y.) and Emilia Sykes (D-Ohio).

During their visit, Murtagh and Peluso joined IAM and TCU legislative staff to express appreciation to the bill’s sponsors and to discuss strategies for advancing the bill into law before the next tax season.

The proposed legislation seeks to expand the current overtime tax exemption. If enacted, it would allow airline, rail, and other workers exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) to benefit from the same overtime tax relief that is already available to many American workers.

“Tell Congress: Railroad and Airline Workers Deserve an Overtime Tax Deduction Too!” the organizations stated.
