IAM District 19 has announced a tentative agreement with Union Pacific Railroad, which would affect about 1,300 freight rail workers. The proposed contract includes improvements in pay, vacation, and healthcare for members.
“Our membership asked us to stand strong for a contract that includes no takeaways and makes improvements to pay, vacation and healthcare – and that’s exactly what we’ve delivered,” said IAM District 19 President and Directing General Chair Reece Murtagh. “We strongly recommend acceptance of this agreement.”
Josh Hartford, IAM Special Assistant to the International President for the IAM Rail Division, stated: “District 19 continues to stand strong for industry-leading contracts. Together, we are remaking this industry and giving every rail worker the respect they’ve earned.”
Members will receive more details about the tentative agreement soon. An electronic ratification vote is scheduled from Monday, August 25 through Friday, August 29, 2025.
