The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) recently held its 2025 Joint Air Transport Safety Committee (JATSC) Conference at the William W. Winpisinger Center in Hollywood, Maryland. The event brought together committee members and safety professionals to focus on several key areas, including the promotion of collaborative safety initiatives such as the Ground Safety Action Program.

The committee worked on strategies for injury prevention and hazard mitigation, and also emphasized the importance of training and education for workers in the air transport sector. Another major topic was the advocacy for strong systems that encourage workers to report safety concerns.

During the conference, daily video wrap-up reports covered a range of sessions. These included presentations on reducing distracted driving and discussions about workplace challenges, such as carelessness and complacency.

The IAM continues to support efforts that improve workplace safety through ongoing education, training, and reporting systems for its members in the air transport industry.
