IAM Union members and supporters of Guide Dogs of America | Tender Loving Canines (GDA | TLC) recently convened in Las Vegas for a series of fundraising events. The gathering, organized to support the IAM Union’s chosen charity, aimed to raise funds for providing service dogs to people who are blind, as well as individuals with PTSD and autism.

IAM International President Brian Bryant expressed appreciation for the participation and sponsorship from IAM Union members across various territories. “We are grateful for the large turnout of participants and sponsors,” said Bryant on behalf of the entire IAM Executive Council, acknowledging the collective fundraising efforts.

The event included several activities such as a sporting clay shoot, race car driving, ax throwing, golf, and a gala dinner. These activities were designed to generate support for GDA | TLC’s mission.

A baseball-themed gala dinner held on Saturday night drew more than 1,000 attendees. During the event, this year’s “Gift of Sight” awards were presented to David Sullivan, IAM Eastern Territory General Vice President; Arthur Maratea, TCU/IAM National President; and Southwest Airlines.

Speakers at the event discussed how service dogs have changed lives. A Canadian military veteran shared his story about living with PTSD and how his service dog Oakley has helped him manage daily challenges.
