Delegates from the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) Wisconsin State Council gathered in Madison for a three-day meeting, according to an April 7 announcement. The event brought together union members from across the state to address regulatory and political challenges affecting collective bargaining, while emphasizing solidarity and active engagement.
The meeting highlighted recent changes in state labor policy. Governor Tony Evers attended the conference, where he was joined by local labor leaders to sign Assembly Bill 651—now known as 2025 Wisconsin Act 145—which updates Wisconsin’s workers’ compensation system.
On the final day of the gathering, IAM Midwest Territory General Vice President Sam Cicinelli spoke about the importance of organizing efforts, educating members, and supporting candidates who advocate for workers. “Division is the most effective weapon against working people,” said Cicinelli. “When we stand together across each of the crafts, across industries, across differences, we are powerful. Unstoppable. History proves it.”
After these discussions, delegates met with lawmakers during lobbying activities at the Wisconsin State Capitol.
The event served as a platform for IAM members to reinforce their commitment to worker solidarity and legislative advocacy.
