Jon Holden has been appointed as the new General Vice President of Training and Apprenticeships for the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, effective April 1, according to an announcement made at the recent MNPL Conference in Savannah, Georgia.
The appointment follows a unanimous vote by the IAM Executive Council. The move is seen as significant for the union’s focus on workforce development and training initiatives.
Holden previously served as president of IAM District 751 in Washington state. In that role, he represented tens of thousands of highly skilled workers who are primarily involved in building Boeing aircraft at manufacturing facilities.
The leadership change reflects ongoing efforts within the union to strengthen its apprenticeship programs and support members’ professional growth. The decision was made public during a key gathering attended by union leaders and members focused on legislative priorities.
As Holden steps into his new position, observers will be watching how his experience with District 751 shapes future training strategies for one of North America’s largest industrial unions.
