Success Academy, a prominent charter school network, will open its first Florida campus in Miami, according to an announcement from Governor Ron DeSantis. The new school is part of the state’s Schools of Hope initiative, which aims to increase access to high-quality education for families in areas served by persistently low-performing schools.
Governor DeSantis stated, “Florida leads the nation in educational freedom, and today we are adding to that promise. With Success Academy opening in Miami, students will now have access to one of the highest-performing education models in the country. Florida’s families deserve world-class education, and we will continue to make it available to every child no matter their zip code.”
Commissioner of Education Anastasios Kamoutsas added, “Under Governor DeSantis’ leadership, parents are empowered to choose the educational path that best suits their children’s unique needs. Success Academy offers families another high-quality option, backed by a nationally recognized track record of academic excellence and school improvement.”
The Schools of Hope program was established in 2017 with the goal of providing alternatives for students attending consistently underperforming schools. The initiative partners with nonprofit charter networks that have demonstrated success serving low-income communities and focuses on closing achievement gaps between disadvantaged students and their peers.
Governor DeSantis has emphasized his commitment to expanding educational options through new laws and initiatives designed to give more choices to students and families.
