The BDS provides annual measures of job creation and destruction, establishment births and deaths, as well as firm startups and shutdowns. This dataset covers a time series from 1978 through 2023.
According to the Census Bureau, users can access the new data through the BDS website, via the Census API, or by using BDS Explorer. The explorer tool features an interactive dashboard that allows users to build tables and charts for comparing various measures of business dynamics across different segments.
