The U.S. Census Bureau has published new statistics on state-to-state migration flows and place of birth for 2024. The data provide estimates of how many people moved between all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and from abroad to the United States.

The State-to-State Migration Flows table offers detailed information about migration patterns across the country. Another table shows current residents in each state, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico by their place of birth.

These statistics are drawn from the 2024 American Community Survey (ACS) 1-year estimates. The release does not include a formal news announcement but is presented as a tip sheet.
