The U.S. Census Bureau has released new data tables that detail the social and economic characteristics of the foreign-born population in the United States, using information from the 2024 Current Population Survey Annual Social and Economic Supplement (CPS ASEC).
These tables present a breakdown by generation, covering first-generation individuals (foreign-born), second-generation individuals (those with at least one foreign-born parent), and third-and-higher generation individuals (those with two U.S. native parents). The data include statistics on employment status, education, household income, poverty status, race, age, and sex.
The Current Population Survey is recognized as one of the oldest and largest surveys in the country. It serves as a primary source for monthly labor force statistics and also provides data for various studies related to the nation’s economic and social conditions.
