The University of North Florida has introduced a new online certificate program, “AI for Work and Life,” aimed at helping individuals gain practical knowledge about artificial intelligence in both professional and personal settings. Registration for the program opens today, with the course set to begin on Thursday, September 25. The eight-week, non-credit program is delivered entirely online and allows participants to learn at their own pace through self-guided modules and virtual sessions led by experts.

The certificate is available to anyone interested, regardless of their background or prior experience with AI. Those who complete the course by December 31, 2025, will receive a UNF certificate at no cost. Additionally, professionals who finish the course can earn one Continuing Education Unit (CEU).

“UNF is offering this bold and innovative AI for Work and Life certificate program to help the public navigate a time when AI is quickly transforming the world,” said UNF President Moez Limayem. “We are proud to offer this certificate free for the remainder of 2025, since understanding and applying AI appropriately can help unlock opportunities at work and beyond.”

The university highlights that artificial intelligence is having a growing impact on workplaces and daily life, affecting everything from business operations to personal productivity.

“This certificate is designed to give everyone an entry point into the world of artificial intelligence, whether you’re a high school graduate curious about how AI is changing the job market or a lifelong learner who wants to keep up with the rapidly evolving technological landscape,” said Dr. Josh Gellers, a UNF professor who serves as the first Faculty Fellow for AI and as director of the Digital Humanities Institute. “Above all, this program approaches AI in a way that is both informative and fun.”

According to UNF, participants will learn how to use practical tools that make tasks more efficient while also focusing on ethical considerations related to AI use. The goal is for learners to develop strategies for integrating AI into various aspects of their lives in ways that add value.

The $249-value certificate will be offered free until December 31, 2025. After this date, course materials will remain accessible without charge.
