WJCT Public Media will join public radio stations across the country in celebrating Public Radio Music Day on October 29, 2025. The annual event, organized by the noncomMUSIC Alliance, highlights the role of noncommercial music stations in supporting local artists and bringing together listeners from different backgrounds.
As part of the celebration, WJCT has announced a special lineup of programming for the evening. At 9 p.m., “The Neighborhood with Mr. Al Pete” will feature a selection of hip-hop, R&B, soul, jazz and more curated by Jacksonville artist and DJ Mr. Al Pete. The show aims to showcase the creativity and culture present in Northeast Florida’s music scene.
At 10 p.m., “Bop City with Daniel Stark” will be hosted by jazz saxophonist and Friday Musicale director Daniel Stark. This program explores bebop music—a style known for its improvisation and innovation—and features works from influential musicians such as Charlie Parker, Thelonious Monk and Dizzy Gillespie.
Following at 11 p.m., station manager David Luckin presents “Electro Lounge,” which offers a mix of downtempo, chill and eclectic sounds designed to create an atmospheric late-night listening experience.
At midnight, “Blues Horizon with Andrew Wiechman” takes over. Hosted by Jacksonville musician Andrew Wiechman, this show delves into blues and blues-inspired rock while incorporating artist interviews and insights into the local music scene.
